We recently installed a Hypervolt Home 3 Pro at a Beaconsfield property in HP9 1JR. The homeowner wanted a reliable, future-proof charger that would work with their plans to add solar panels later. One of our NAPIT-certified electricians completed the installation after a thorough site survey revealed a significant cable routing challenge. The result is a space grey charger mounted on the garage, with the 5 m cable reaching the driveway easily. The customer is very happy with the outcome and the charger's clean aesthetic.
Why did this Beaconsfield homeowner choose the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro?
During the free site survey, we discussed the customer's future energy plans. They wanted a charger that would integrate well with solar panels and battery storage down the line. They'd also done their own research and were confident the Hypervolt was the right choice. The space grey finish was important too — it matched the colour of their garage door and looked professional against the building. The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro ticked all the boxes: reliable, smart-enabled, and visually discreet. It's a charger built to last, and the customer appreciated that we weren't pushing them toward unnecessary extras.
What made the cable run so complicated at this property?
This installation wasn't straightforward from the start. The meter is at the front of the house, and the garage sits to the left. To run the armoured cable from the consumer unit to the charging point, we had to navigate around the property's perimeter — a distance of 25 metres.
Here's what we did:
We dug down and buried the armoured cable across the driveway. Then we routed it around the perimeter of the property, carefully navigating around bushes and landscaping. The cable then ran around the corner of the building and across the back driveway to reach the garage. Every section was buried to protect it from damage and keep the property looking neat.
Many Chilterns properties — especially Victorian and Edwardian homes in Beaconsfield — require careful cable route planning from the fuse board to the garage or driveway. Our NAPIT-certified electricians assess this challenge on the free site survey before any work is agreed. In this case, the long run was manageable, but it needed proper planning and careful execution.
How did you choose the right cable length?
We originally considered a 7.5 m tethered cable, but after measuring the distance from the charger to where the car parks on the driveway, we found the 5 m cable was more than enough. This kept the installation simpler and the charger cleaner-looking. The 5 m length gives the customer flexibility to park in different spots while keeping excess cable neat and tidy.
Is the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro the right choice for a Beaconsfield garage installation?
Yes, especially for properties like this one. The Hypervolt Home 3 Pro is a 7kW wall-mounted charger that delivers reliable charging for most household EVs. It's smart-enabled, so the customer can monitor charging via an app. The space grey finish suits modern garages and doesn't look industrial or out of place.
If you're planning to add solar panel installation or battery storage later, the Hypervolt integrates well with both. You can set it to charge during peak solar generation or use stored battery power to charge your car overnight. For Beaconsfield homeowners thinking long-term, this flexibility is valuable.
What happens after installation?
Once the charger was mounted and all cable routes tested, we made sure the customer understood how to use it. The Hypervolt app is straightforward — it just works. We also discussed future options, including how solar panels could feed power directly to the charger during the day. The customer appreciated the after-care guidance and felt confident using the system from day one.
