What is the OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant and who qualifies in 2026?
The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant offers up to £350 off a home EV charger. Here is who qualifies, what is required, and how to claim it.

The OZEV EV Chargepoint Grant (formerly the EVHS: Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme) covers up to £350 off the cost of a home EV charger installation for eligible properties.
It is one of the most straightforward government grants available, and most homeowners with a driveway and a qualifying vehicle will qualify.
Who qualifies for the OZEV grant?
To receive the grant, you need to meet all of these criteria:
- You own or have ordered a qualifying EV or plug-in hybrid. The vehicle must appear on the OZEV approved vehicle list. Most modern EVs and PHEVs are on the list. Classic conversions and some older models are not.
- The property has off-street parking. This means a driveway, garage, or dedicated parking space that is part of the property. On-street parking does not qualify.
- The charger is installed by an OZEV-approved installer. You cannot claim the grant if you use an installer who is not registered with the scheme. Check your installer is OZEV-approved before you book.
- The charger is a new installation. You cannot claim the grant to replace an existing charger (unless it was defective and removed within 6 months of the original installation).
How much is the grant worth?
The grant covers 75% of the installation cost, up to a maximum of £350. For most standard home EV charger installations, the grant pays £350 off the total invoice.
How do I claim the grant?
You do not claim the grant yourself. Your OZEV-approved installer applies for it on your behalf. The process works like this:
- You book an installation with an OZEV-approved installer
- The installer applies for the grant before or during the booking process
- OZEV approves the application
- The installer deducts the grant amount from your invoice
- The installer claims the money directly from OZEV
You simply pay the reduced amount. The paperwork is handled for you.
What documentation do I need?
Your installer will ask for:
- Proof of vehicle ownership or a copy of your vehicle order confirmation
- Your name and address
- DVLA registration or order reference for the vehicle
Does the grant apply to flats?
Not through the homeowner scheme. However, a separate grant exists for residential landlords to install chargers in car parks serving flats. If you are a landlord or manage a block of flats, speak to your installer about the landlord scheme.
How long does the grant last?
The OZEV grant has been running since 2011 in various forms. It was last updated in April 2022. As of March 2026, it is still active. However, government grants can change: if you are planning to install a charger this year, book sooner rather than later.
